So since my first road trip north I have done some exciting things.
Work has been going amazingly on the first week of editing with the first Project Youth Doc I got to me a helper with the group. This was quite a task as the group were quite rowdy kids and would choose to rather skateboard/recruit gang members/ fight/ drink and overdose on their mothers prescribed pain killers. However it still enjoyed my time with them, these kids don’t have many people trusting them or giving them opportunities and I felt like I contributed to that.
After all the hassle with nationwide screwing me over and placing my money into someone else’s account with the help from my parents back home it finally got sorted and within the same two days I got my first pay check!
The first pay check went towards a my hair color(which is now a purple/ red colour) and roadtrip with Lauren up north to seattle again. However instead of the touristy sigh seeing we went to see hatebreeed play ‘a local hardcore show’. The venue is that of possible fame being the one champion played their last show at-besides the fact the venue was so warm and the legal age to be able to leave was 21 (something I’m still not getting use to) the venue and sho itself was good. Hatebreed played well better than the last time I saw them and the 6 hr journey felt worth it. We also drove through Olympia to pick someone and got sweet vegan Chinese food from an all meat free restraint where I got fake chicken: surprisingly not rank.
The week of hatebreed started a long string of shows which I ended missing out on two due to sheer exhaustion. Rise and fall at back space was under attended but a good show and rocky V/owen was an emotional treat. Sadly the Friday la quiete played a house show I was terribly sick to the extent of being sent home from work to sleep so I missed out!
The other most exciting thing is my new bike! Searching craiglist I managed to get a road bike for $35 and so far have cycled to work the last two mornings (about 1o miles a journey) and feel great for it. Biking/listening to los crudos defiantly the way to travel if only England was bike friendly I would feel more willing to own a bike and cycle around!
Also Monday night at work was the first time since working for film action/Hollywood theatre that I had seen a film here. How the Garcia girls spent there summer was the film of choice and honestly possibly the most beautiful sentiment film I have ever seen. With an passion for description and a wonderfully executed analogy of what a car represent I came out smiling. (Lauren came out grossed at old people sex).
Also something I have considering being here is going raw vegan! But more on this later
The next few days are going to be fun tonight first Thursday free museum/gallery openings which provides me with plenty of geeking out opportunities in the NW/SW area! Then the weekend is day of package sending/science museum/bike riding/seeing passing poston at work /food not bombs and ceremony at a community center. Sunday is then the day my inside 12year old has waited for WAREPD TOUR. Those who know me well know that I am a geek and the prospect of going to this one day festival brightens me up inside. Play lists have already been made in preparation!
So yeah I have been doing other things and Portland is still better than home but I’d rather be doing them then writing about them. Maybe I’l update about awesome weekend next week if I have not lost my mind!
